The largest European dogwood producer - Famberry, which has a plantation in Ukraine for 13 thousand trees of 20 different varieties, has completed the harvest.
This year, the dogwood harvest is twice as much as in 2018. About 20 tons of berries were harvested on the farm. As the company hopes, such an increase will be annually, said Sergey Olshansky, the owner of the garden.
In general, he believes that growing dogwood is promising. However, he adds that the culture of berry consumption among Ukrainians is very low.
Few people in Ukraine know how to consume berries. And sometimes - even how she looks. It happens that unscrupulous producers offer cherry tomatoes instead of dried dogwood in chocolate, said Sergei Olshansky.
Famberry sells fresh organic berries from the garden at a price of 50 UAH / kg. Frozen products cost a little more - 75 UAH / kg
As Olshansky said, dogwood is frozen in the farm to process it and produce jam, jam, sauces during the year. If the moratorium on alcohol is lifted, tinctures and liquors will be produced from the berries.
