About 4,000 sheep in Ireland die annually and are injured in dog attacks. Farmers turned to the owners of the dogs so that they would not let the animals out at night.
Matthew McGrihan, a farmer in the Cooley Mountains, owns 450 sheep. In November, he lost 13 lambs due to an attack, and even more animals were injured.
