In the second decade of July in the north of Ukraine, unfavorable agrometeorological conditions were observed for the growth and development of late agricultural crops. The ripening period of early crops became longer, which hindered harvesting. This is evidenced by the agrometeorological review of the Ukrhydrometeocenter.
It is noteworthy that during the second half of July, the central and southern regions of the country suffered from a lack of rain.
A reduced amount of productive moisture was observed in the soil. The number of areas where moistening of the soil under sunflower and corn was clearly insufficient was growing.
From the first days of summer, the largest lack of rain with respect to the norm of 30-70% was observed in the territory of Cherkasy, Poltava, Kharkov, Sumy, Chernihiv and Kharkov regions, where the amount of summer rainfall from June 1 to July 20 was the smallest recent years, informs Ukrhydrometeocenter.
Forecasters clarify that due to periodic cooling and the absence of prolonged winds, the influence of drought did not become irreversible.
For information, in the Seredino-Budsky district of the Sumy region, farmers cannot start harvesting due to a delay in the ripening of crops due to cold and rain.
