For the purchase of oilseeds in other countries, funds are annually allocated, which are one of the largest items of expenditure. Especially, the Ukrainian side imports seeds of such a crop as sunflower. In 2018, the country acquired 82 thousand tons of seeds worth $ 341 million. At the same time, in 2017 $ 309 million was spent on a similar operation.

Every year, Ukrainian farmers purchase high-quality sunflower seed from a certain group of countries, which includes: Germany, France and the United States. Chile, Spain, and India deliver slightly less seeds to Ukraine, says IAE Deputy Director Nikolai Pugachev.

Recall that in 2018, sales of sunflower seeds to foreign countries decreased by 20%. Ukraine exported 58.7 thousand tons of seeds. This is 14.53 thousand tons lower than the 2017 data. The main consumers of Ukrainian goods were Romania, Italy and Turkey, the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine reports. At the same time, Turkey increased its sunflower export by 26% compared with 2017 data.
