In Ukraine, the National Honey Contest ended in June and was organized by the Association of Honey Exporters and Processors together with the Union of Ukrainian Beekeepers.

This was reported on the website of the Association on Facebook. The competition was held in preparation for participation in the international specialized congress exhibition Apimondia & ApiExpo 2019, which will be held September 8-12 in Montreal (Canada).

It is noted that several hundred Ukrainian beekeepers from almost all regions of Ukraine took part in the competition. Given the large number of samples, the competition took place in several stages, and according to the results of the previous stages, the best 27 honey samples were selected for the final competition.

According to the requirements of the Official Rules and Regulations of the World Beekeeping Awards 2019 Official Rules and Regulations, all samples were divided into several categories: liquid honey - transparent, light, dark; crystalline honey.

Samples of honey that were presented to members of a reputable tender committee were depersonalized and unified codes were assigned to them. Each honey sample was evaluated by members of the commission according to 4 criteria - aroma, color, texture and taste on a 10-point scale.

Thus, only after summing up and determining the best among the best, the commission members learned the names of the winners in each category, the report said.

It is noted that according to the results of the National Competition for the World Beekeeping Prize Competition, honey samples of the following beekeepers will be sent: Stretovich V.M., Krasnoshchek N.V., Andoniev M.V., Shitrya V.G., Kovalenko Yu.A.
