During the day, the fields on the basis of the Shegedin farm presented new varieties of potatoes and talked about the technology of growing them in Volyn.

According to the chairman of the farm Vladimir Shegedin, a total of seventy potato varieties are grown in the farm. This year they introduce new varieties of foreign selection. Farmer's favorite variety is Latona.
According to Vladimir Shegedin, the farm is now planning to conclude an agreement with colleagues from Belarus on further cooperation in growing potatoes.
For information, every year in the Volyn region produced more than 1 million tons of potatoes. For comparison, potato production on a Ukrainian scale is 20 million tons.
However, there are few enterprises growing potatoes using the latest technologies and a scientific approach in the field. Most producers are private farms.
It is noteworthy that the professor of the University of Michigan, David Douch, is constantly developing new varieties of potatoes. Of the latest innovations - purple potatoes, from which purple chips are made. Jacqueline Lee potatoes are medium in size and yellow in flesh. Previously, it did not fit the market, but now it is sold at the national and international levels.
