Artyom Khramov's farm "Snail Garden" from the Stavropol Territory plans to receive about 300 thousand for the first time. Their collection has already begun at the experimental site, as stated in the message of the regional Ministry of Agriculture.
The farm launched a mollusk growing project in 2019. Snails on the Khramov farm are kept in closed ground with an area of 500 m².
The temperature in the greenhouse is 15-16 ° C, water is supplied to maintain the desired level of humidity. Shellfish grow for 8 months, reaching a weight of 15 g by the end of the term, after which they are sent for processing to neighboring Pyatigorsk.
The shells of most snails spin in a clockwise direction.
Snails grown on this farm are already delivered to restaurants in the capital. The farm not only grows snails, but also collects their mucus, which is used in cosmetology and aesthetic medicine. In addition, they plan to start the production of caviar, which is a delicious product.
Artyom Khramov intends to expand production facilities to 5 thousand m², as well as increase the production of snail meat to 100 tons per year.
In 2020, it is planned to begin cultivation of the Mediterranean snail, for which broodstock will be introduced. At the peasant farm, it was estimated that the profitability of mollusk production could be 200%.
