In Iran, local agricultural producers intend to significantly increase the pace of production of products such as olives in the very near future.
We are talking about an increase in indicators from March of this year to March 2020 (the current Islamic year).
The local Ministry of Agriculture notes that it is planned to increase production volumes to one hundred and twenty thousand tons, which is one third more than current indicators.
It will not be superfluous to note that now Iran is seriously considering not only the possibility of increasing the volume of production of olives, but also increasing the processing capacities of these products. Thus, local representatives of the agro-industrial complex hope to reduce the volume of foreign supplies of olive oil to Iran.
It is noteworthy that today in Iran, forty-two enterprises producing oil from olive raw materials operate at full capacity. By joint efforts, the employees of these plants manage to supply about ninety one thousand tons to the local market.
This provides seventy percent of the Iranian needs for olive oil. The remaining thirty are made up by imports.
However, over the next two years, Iranian farmers will expand the territory for growing olives by as much as fifteen thousand hectares. For clarity, it should be noted that the current indicator of the area with olive plantations in Iran is ninety-two thousand hectares.
