As a result of the investigation, employees of the prosecutor’s office of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug concluded that the local veterinary service was not properly performing its direct duties. As a result, as a result of the negligence of Yamal veterinarians, serious violations were made in the livestock waste management industry.

So, it was found that in 2018, due to adverse climatic and weather conditions in the region, more than 22 thousand reindeer died. The staff of the competent services took this fact into account, but hid it from the rest. As a result, the carcasses of dead animals were destroyed in an improper way, which completely contradicts the sanitary-epidemiological and veterinary standards.

As a result, five officials who are involved in concealing the fact of death will now be responsible for this misconduct. Among them - the deputy head of the Veterinary District Service and the deputy head of the State Veterinary Inspectorate of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.

It is noteworthy that prosecutors every year discover the facts of the destruction of carcasses of animals and other biological waste in the context of a complete violation of the law - dead animals are buried in the tundra, at solid waste landfills and in other places not intended for this kind of biomaterial disposal.
