Outbreaks of swine fever have occurred on pig farms mainly in central Japan since last year. Wild boars are thought to be carriers of this disease. In Aichi Prefecture, work will be carried out at 60 locations in Komaki, Kasugai and Inuyama.
According to representatives of the prefectures, five more rounds of vaccination will be carried out by February 2020. On Monday, March 25, the government of Gifu Prefecture also began to place vaccine-containing feed on the ground. The leadership of the prefecture plans to install fodder in 900 settlements in mountainous regions in 18 municipalities by Friday.According to representatives of Gifu, the second round of vaccination will be held in late April, and two more rounds are scheduled for summer and winter.
On Saturday, March 23, the Ministry of Agriculture announced that a new case of pig disease was confirmed at a pig farm in Yamagata, Gifu Prefecture. The prefecture will destroy about 2,000 pigs raised on the farm.
