And the Irish Cattle and Sheep Breeders Association (ICSA) called on the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Marine Life of Ireland Michael Creed to participate in consultations with farmers' organizations on the distribution of the European aid package.
Edmund Graham, Chairman of the ICSA Board of Directors for Beef, said: “Now it’s important that there are plans and resources to deliver money to farmers as quickly as possible.Consultations with farmers' organizations should begin as soon as possible, and in any case immediately after the elections in the EU.
Shane Ellis, the presidential candidate for Fianna Fáil, a liberal party, “cautiously welcomed” the European Commission’s decision on a package of assistance to Irish beef producers and said: “The process of submitting a farm funding application should be simple. The ministry must act quickly and clarify details for farmers. This should be the first step. ”
