Very soon, commercial projects on the low-cost cultivation of blueberries will appear on the territory of Ukraine with a view to further processing. This was informed by the managing partner of FruTek LLC Oleg Bosy in the framework of the international conference “Berries of Ukraine: freezing and fresh market”.
In such projects only sustainable varieties of berries that are suitable for organic cultivation will be used. Combine harvesting will be used for harvesting.
Most likely, Ukraine will become the first country in Europe where such projects will operate, since there is everything for this: opportunities, infrastructure, irrigated fields with water of sufficient quality. In Ukraine, you can start such projects on areas from 100 to 300 hectares.
Moreover, not a single country in Europe has such an opportunity, explained Oleg Bosy. Earlier it was reported that Ukraine is constantly increasing the cultivation area of blueberries and may become one of the world's leading suppliers of this berry.
In 2018, about 1 thousand hectares were allotted for blueberry cultivation in the country, which gives Ukraine the second place in the world among the leaders in terms of the rate of planting of this berry.
At the same time, Ukraine is second only to Peru, where the annual increase in areas under blueberries is 2 hectares.
